Choose Garp's battleship for the Marine cast, its dog figurehead and the combination of ship and shore scenes. For a first ship centered on the five Straw Hat crew members, The Going Merry gives a more direct character selection.

The cast changes the purchase
Garp, Koby, Helmeppo and Tashigi join Zoro, Usopp, Nami and Miss All Sunday. That is a useful expansion for a collection already centered on the Straw Hats. It is a less direct first purchase for someone expecting the core pirate crew together: The Going Merry 75639 includes Luffy and Sanji as well as Zoro, Nami and Usopp.
Ship access and shore play serve different scenes
The deck opens to reach the map room and Garp's office. The dog figurehead, five foil sails and foil flag define the exterior, while a market with stalls and a telephone booth gives the characters a place to go ashore. Weapons and navigation equipment support the voyage; the market broadens the scene beyond the deck.
Measure the fleet as well as the new ship
LEGO lists the battleship at over 39 cm high, 44 cm long and 18 cm wide. The Going Merry is listed at over 34 cm high and 39 cm long, so Garp's ship adds both height and length when displayed beside it. The separate market still needs its own space. Choose a combined ship-and-shore layout before committing to a shelf arrangement.
