Is this the set for you?
Choose Hubble Space Telescope if the observatory itself is the subject you want to explore. Its removable shell panels reveal modeled instruments, and the stand and plaque let it work as a complete display without a shuttle beside it.
A good fit for: Adult astronomy fans interested in a telescope display with an accessible interior.
Choose it for the observatory's interior
Hubble's main distinction is what the outer panels conceal. Opening the model gives you a view of the instrument bay, including representations of gyroscopes and the two mirrors. That suits someone who wants to explain the observatory as well as recognise its outline.
The movable arrays, antennas and aperture door offer several ways to arrange the display. The astronaut helps communicate its size, with the qualification that LEGO calls the scale approximate.
How it differs from the Hubble in Discovery
NASA Space Shuttle Discovery 10283 includes both the shuttle and Hubble, with options to display them together or separately. That set serves the deployment story. The 1,252-piece 11382 gives the observatory its own project and display.
For placement, use the open-door measurements: over 32 cm high and 38 cm in each horizontal direction. Mark out a 38 by 38 cm square, then allow room around it to remove the panels. Choose the standalone telescope when its interior and scientific subject matter most; choose Discovery when the shuttle-and-telescope pairing is the attraction.
