The verdict

I did not expect to fall for a 491 piece set, but the clear dome roof on this igloo got me the second I clipped it into place.

It is built like the glass igloos you see at those Nordic resort ads, and LEGO nailed the look with parts pulled from the Space line, which is such a clever bit of cross-theme thinking. This is a small, cozy build with real charm packed into it, from the sled dogs to the tiny fireplace inside, and it never feels like filler. If you love the Friends winter sets or you just want a sweet little diorama that will not eat your whole weekend, this is one to grab before it fully disappears from shelves.

Best for: Friends collectors and winter diorama fans who want a quick, charming build

The full review

What it is

I did not expect to fall for a 491 piece set, but the clear dome roof on this igloo got me the second I clipped it into place. It is modeled on the glass igloos you see at those Nordic resort ads, and the design team pulled the dome panels straight from the LEGO City Space line, which is such a smart bit of cross-theme reuse. Inside there are three little beds, a chest of drawers, a table with a lava lamp, and a fireplace, so the interior feels lived in rather than staged. Out front you get a dog sled with two huskies that actually look like individuals: one has a gray muzzle like she has seen a few winters, the other has a little mark on her forehead and a smile. That kind of small detail is exactly what makes a small Friends set worth building.

The catch

I will be honest about where this one falls short. At under 500 pieces, the build itself does not take long, so if you want a big weekend project this is not it. A few reviewers also pointed out that the sled dogs look more like scrappy terriers than the mountain huskies you would picture for arctic sledding, which is a fair critique even though I still think they are charming. And because Paisley, her little sister Ella, and Aliya are all exclusive to this set, once retail stock dries up you will not find these figures anywhere else, so if you collect the Friends cast you will want to move on this before it is gone for good.

Who it's for

This is a set for people who love the Friends winter world, or anyone who wants a compact, good looking diorama without committing to a huge build. Parents shopping for a kid around 8 who likes cozy, story driven play will do well here too, with the camera, cocoa cups, and firewood all built in for imaginative play. If you need volume for your money or you are chasing big centerpiece builds, look elsewhere in the theme instead.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

The build moves in clear stages: the dog sled comes together fast and is genuinely satisfying to snap together, then you move into the igloo shell itself, where the curved windows and the round awning over the door take a bit more care to line up. It is not a technically demanding build, but there is enough going on with the dome and the interior furnishings that it never feels like you are just stacking bricks.

The standout here is the transparent dome roof, borrowed from LEGO City Space sets, which gives the igloo its glass resort look and is the single best reason to pick this set up. There are two new molds debuting in this set, including a new dog harness piece shaped like a flattened wedge that makes it easier to fit onto different animals going forward, plus a new 1x1 round plate with a vertical bar in white. On top of that you get a healthy handful of recolors and a couple of rarer parts for a set this size, which is better part value than you would expect from something priced under fifty dollars.

Fun facts

  • 01The igloo's clear dome roof reuses panel molds first introduced in LEGO City Space sets, a cross-theme part reuse that reviewers specifically called out as clever design.
  • 02All three minifigures, Paisley, her little sister Ella (built as a micro doll), and Aliya, are exclusive to this set and do not appear anywhere else.
  • 03The set introduces a new dog harness element shaped like a flattened elliptic wedge, designed to fit more animal figures going forward, plus a new 1x1 round plate with vertical bar.
  • 04Since retiring in December 2024, secondhand values have dropped roughly 30 percent, landing around $35 based on recent average sale prices.
