Monkie Kid is the most underrated theme in modern LEGO® sets, full stop. Based on the Monkey King legend, it was aimed mainly at the Chinese market, so a lot of Western buyers never gave it a look. The builders who did found sets like The Heavenly Realms and The City of Lanterns, which pack in color, detail, and building techniques that rival the Ninjago City line.

Because the theme flew under the radar, many of these sets sold poorly at retail and have already retired, which makes the aftermarket the main way in for some of them.
