The verdict

I turned that little crank on top and watched the carpet lift against a painted moon and clouds, and for a second it actually felt like Agrabah shrunk down to nightstand size.

This is a jewelry box first and a LEGO set second, and it knows it, with two real drawers, two customizable rings, and a lid built to sit open on a shelf. It is charming and it is clever in small doses, but at fifty dollars for 461 pieces you are paying for the display object more than for building thrills. If you love the movie or you know a kid who wants a keepsake box that happens to come with a build, this earns its spot. If you want an engineering puzzle, look elsewhere in the lineup.

Best for: Aladdin and Jasmine fans who want a keepsake box, not a building challenge

The full review

What it is

I will admit the crank got me first. You build up this lidded box with a rising moon and clouds behind it, tuck Genie's lamp inside, and when you turn the little handle the magic carpet rises up like it is taking off over a miniature Agrabah. It is a small trick but it is a well aimed one, and it is the kind of detail that makes a kid stop and turn the crank again just to watch it happen. Add in Jasmine and Aladdin as minidolls, plus a carpet built sturdy enough to pull off the box and fly around on its own, and you have a set that clearly understands its audience wants a story, not just a stack of bricks.

The catch

Here is the honest part. Reviewers who got hands on it, including thebrickblogger, pointed out that the flying mechanism moves too fast to read as flight, it reads more like a nervous hop. And at $49.99 for 461 pieces, there just is not enough unusual geometry or rare tooling in the build to make the price tag disappear the way it does on some of LEGO's better Disney sets this year. The two customizable rings are a sweet touch for a kid who wants to wear part of the story, but they are also a reminder that a good chunk of what you are buying is the jewelry box function, not the LEGO build itself.

Who it's for

Get this one if you have a Jasmine or Aladdin fan who wants an actual keepsake box for a nightstand or bookshelf, something that looks like a small stage set even after the last brick is placed. Skip it if you are shopping for a builder who wants their hands full for an afternoon or wants to feel clever putting it together, because at 461 pieces and a fairly straightforward box shape, this one is over quicker than the price suggests it should be.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

The build itself is quick and mostly straightforward: you are shaping a box, a hinged lid, and a backdrop, then adding the crank mechanism that connects to the carpet's rising motion. It is not a set that asks much of you technique-wise, which fits its intended audience of newer builders wanting a satisfying result fast, but experienced builders looking for a puzzle will find the construction over before it gets interesting.

The standout pieces are all about the scene rather than rare tooling: the moon and cloud backdrop elements set the night sky mood, Genie's lamp is a nice included touch, and the two customizable rings are new to this set and clearly the play feature LEGO wanted kids talking about. There is no flood of new molds or printed parts here, which is part of why some reviewers felt the part count did not stretch far enough to match the $49.99 price.

Fun facts

  • 01The finished jewelry box stands over 4 inches (11 cm) tall and about 6.5 inches (17 cm) wide, sized to actually sit and function on a nightstand or shelf.
  • 02It comes with two minidoll figures, Jasmine and Aladdin, rather than the single minidoll typical of some other Disney jewelry box sets.
  • 03The magic carpet is built to detach from the crank mechanism entirely, so it can be flown around and played with separately from the box.
  • 04It released in 2026 as part of LEGO's ongoing Disney Princess jewelry box subline, joining similar keepsake-box builds for other Disney heroines.
