The verdict

I opened this expecting a throwaway bundle and came away impressed.

You are actually getting three separate City Space sets, the Interstellar Spaceship, the Space Construction Mech, and the Space Hoverbike polybag, packed into four numbered bags with two full instruction booklets, and none of them feel like filler. The spaceship is the star, with a cockpit that pops open for a minifigure and a folding thruster section that makes it look far more expensive than it is. This is the one I would hand to a kid who wants a full afternoon of building and playing rather than a single quick set, and it is a smart way to sample the whole Space Explorers line before committing to bigger sets in the wave.

Best for: kids six and up (or adults) who want a full space-themed building session in one box

What it is

I opened this expecting a throwaway bundle and came away impressed. You are actually getting three separate City Space sets stuffed into one box: the Interstellar Spaceship, the Space Construction Mech, and the Space Hoverbike polybag, split across four numbered bags with two full instruction booklets and a small sticker sheet. Nothing about it feels like padding. The spaceship in particular got me, the cockpit pops open to seat a minifigure and there is a push in mechanism on top that folds out the engine section, which is a fun little surprise for a set at this price point. The mech has a grabbing arm on one side and a punching arm on the other, plus its own patch of alien terrain with crystals and a tiny mining droid to guard.

The catch

I will be straight with you about where this bundle falls short. The hoverbike polybag is genuinely tiny, just 46 pieces, so most of the build time and the best moments are loaded into the mech and spaceship. And a few reviewers pointed out that if you catch the individual sets on sale separately, the bundle savings can shrink or disappear, so it pays to compare prices before you buy. This is also purely a play set, there is no shelf worthy display model here, just solid builds meant to be picked up and flown around the living room.

Who it's for

If you have a kid who wants a full afternoon of building rather than one quick set, or you want to sample the whole Space Explorers wave before buying bigger sets in the line, this is a smart entry point. If you are shopping for a single polished centerpiece build or you already own the three component sets, skip it.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

Building this is really building three small sets back to back, which keeps momentum going nicely for a younger builder or anyone short on patience for a single marathon build. You crack open bag one for the hoverbike, get a quick win, then move into the mech which introduces a bit more mechanical interest with its articulated arms, and finish with the spaceship, which is clearly the most thought out of the three with its opening cockpit and folding thruster panel.

The best pieces are tucked into the spaceship and mech sections: the printed 1x1 space logo tiles and crystal elements give the alien terrain sections real personality, and the small mining droid is a fun accessory piece that would be easy to overlook in a set this size. At roughly seven and a half cents per piece based on its release price, the part count justifies the cost even before you factor in three minifigures and the play value of three separate builds.
