The verdict

This is a set that trusts a kid's imagination more than it trusts adult display shelves, and I mean that as a compliment.

Zoey's Time Owl leans into the Dreamzzz show's whole conceit, dreams as vehicles, so the owl reads as part bird, part clockwork machine, with a soft rounded silhouette that photographs better than I expected going in. It will not win over anyone chasing greebled detail or a hundred rare parts, but as a build for a Dreamzzz fan or a kid who wants a chunky, huggable flying build, it does its job with real charm. I would not put this on a top-tier list, but I would not talk anyone out of it either.

Best for: Kids into the Dreamzzz show and parents wanting a gentler, story-driven build than the usual vehicle set

The full review

What it is

Zoey's Time Owl is built around one idea, that the owl is Zoey's dream companion in the Dreamzzz world, and everything about the design supports that instead of fighting it. The proportions are soft and round rather than angular, the wings have a gentle articulation, and there is a clear front-facing character to the face that makes it feel like a toy first and a model second. I like that. Not every set needs to be an engineering showcase, and this one knows its audience is a kid who wants to hold a friendly owl and make it fly around the living room.

The catch

Where I want to be honest with you is around the parts experience. This is not a set stuffed with new molds or printed rarities, most of what is in the box are pieces you have seen in other Dreamzzz and general System sets, recolored and reused to build the shape. If you are the kind of builder who gets excited digging through a parts list for something new, this one will feel routine. It is also worth knowing going in that Dreamzzz is a smaller, younger-skewing theme compared to LEGO's bigger licensed lines, so it does not carry the same secondary market heat or long shelf life in fan conversation.

Who it's for

I would point this at Dreamzzz viewers first, kids who already know Zoey and want the toy version of her world, and second at parents looking for a gentle, story-anchored build for a younger builder who is not quite ready for the more technical vehicle sets. If your kid has never seen the show and just wants an owl toy, there are flashier animal builds out there. But if the show connection is there, this set earns its spot.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

The build itself moves at a comfortable, steady pace, this is not a set that throws a technical curveball at you. You start with the body core and work outward to the wings and tail assembly, and the owl's face comes together late enough that there is a nice little reveal moment when the personality clicks into place. Younger builders should be able to get through most of it with only light help.

Piece-wise, this is a practical build rather than a showcase one. The color palette leans into warm ambers and soft browns to sell the owl feel, and the wing and feather elements are mostly existing System pieces put to clever use rather than anything brand new. There is nothing here that jumps out as a rare printed part or new mold, the value is in how the ordinary pieces are arranged to make something with real character, not in what is inside the bags.

Fun facts

  • 01Dreamzzz is LEGO's theme built around an original Netflix animated series, with sets designed around dream-logic vehicles rather than real-world machines
  • 02Zoey is one of the core kid characters in the Dreamzzz show, and her animal-companion vehicles are a recurring design language across the theme's sets
  • 03The 'time' framing in the set's name ties into the show's larger story about dream travel and manipulating time within dreams, a theme LEGO carried into several Dreamzzz vehicle names
