Is this the set for you?

Choose Cavern Clash for a compact cave encounter with clear physical actions: reveal a crystal, swivel Geodude and dodge its disc shooter. Its 6+ age mark does not make it a complete SMART starter; the responsive layer still requires separately owned hardware.

A good fit for: Owners adding a compact action scene for a builder aged 6+ who likes levers and projectiles.

The cave supplies a sequence to play through

Charmander explores for treasure and encounters Geodude. A lever breaks a rock apart to uncover a crystal, while Geodude swivels, uses its large fists and fires a disc shooter. Those mechanisms give a child a physical task and obstacle, even before considering the responsive lights and sounds.

A smaller action scene or a larger search?

At 198 pieces and age 6+, this is the compact cave option. Mew's Drone Search 72161, rated 8+, builds the search around a drone dropping berries to knock down a wall. Choose the cave for the rock lever and direct projectile encounter; choose Mew for the target-drop search and reveal. Their small-piece mechanisms matter more to that choice than the general promise of Pokémon battles.

The starter requirement still applies

Charmander and Geodude contain SMART Tags, with a compatible SMART Brick from an All-in-One set needed for responsive sounds and lights. No brick or charger is included. Older bricks need the Pokémon firmware update. Charmander measures over 7 cm high, 6 cm wide and 7 cm deep; that is the figure, not the entire cave. The US, UK, Germany, France, Poland and Australia are the announced launch markets; Canada is outside the rollout.
