Is this the set for you?
Choose Spooky Showdown when an existing SMART Play collection needs a physical target challenge and a different responsive game. Its falling-guard treasure reveal and motion-sensitive king-of-the-hill activity distinguish it from a simple two-Pokémon battle.
A good fit for: SMART Play owners who want targets, a treasure reveal and a motion challenge around Cubone and Gengar.
The treasure reveal needs two hits
Hit the plate on the tree to train, place a Pokémon on the battle platform, then hit both targets with the Ultra Ball. The guarding Pokémon falls and a treasure chest appears below. That gives the ruin a physical goal beyond posing Cubone opposite Gengar. Gengar's tongue also moves with a lever.
The extra tags change the responsive game
Alongside the Pokémon tags are a spooky challenge tag and a king-of-the-hill tag. With a compatible SMART Brick, motion triggers beats, attacks and power-ups; the hill challenge reacts to wobbling and falling. Choose this when controlling movement sounds more appealing than repeatedly staging a conventional face-off.
Compare two ways to reveal treasure
Eevee and Lapras 72162 leads a raft journey to a shipwreck, where lowering a mast lifts a rock above a chest. This set puts the chest under a defended platform and asks the player to hit targets. The difference is a journey-and-mechanism scene versus a target-and-balance challenge.
The responsive layer requires existing hardware
The 782-piece set is rated 8+ and includes no SMART Brick or charger. Use a compatible brick from an All-in-One set, with the Pokémon update for older bricks. Gengar alone measures over 11 cm high, 12 cm wide and 13 cm deep. The announced rollout covers the US, UK, Germany, France, Poland and Australia; Canada is outside it.
