Is this the set for you?

Choose Mewtwo's Lab Break for the chamber escape and a posable Mewtwo, rather than a two-Pokémon battle pack. The mechanical reveal is its distinctive scene; responsive sounds and lights need a separately owned compatible SMART Brick.

A good fit for: Fans aged 10+ who want Mewtwo posed in, or escaping from, its laboratory tank.

The chamber is part of the choice

Turn the front dial to recreate Mewtwo escaping its tank and using psychic powers. The laboratory includes an adjustable tank, information screen and Master Ball. Those props turn the figure into a recognizable scene, so the buyer should want the laboratory as well as Mewtwo.

One large figure or two opponents?

The 605-piece, 10+ set builds a Mewtwo standing over 19 cm tall. Umbreon vs. Garchomp 72165 instead supplies two posable Pokémon and a trophy for a championship scene. Choose Mewtwo for a contained escape with one lead character; choose the battle pair for changing who attacks and who wins. Neither expansion includes the powered SMART hardware.

A SMART Tag needs the separate brick

Mewtwo contains a SMART Tag. The responsive lights and sounds require a compatible SMART Brick from an All-in-One set, and this box contains no SMART Brick or charger. Older bricks need the Pokémon firmware update through SMART Assist. The announced rollout covers the US, UK, Germany, France, Poland and Australia; Canada is outside it. If this is a first SMART Play purchase, the Pikachu or Charizard/Jolteon All-in-One set supplies the hardware this laboratory does not.
