Birdhouse

Building it feels less like assembling a machine and more like carving something. The structure goes together in layered sections, roof last, and there is a nice moment when you slide the Technic perches through the sides and the whole thing suddenly reads as a birdhouse instead of a pile of brown bricks. It is a gentle, meditative build with none of the repetition fatigue you get on bigger sets, since almost every section looks different from the last.

The five birds are the real parts story here. Each one, the Eurasian blue tit, the northern cardinal, the yellow finch, the European greenfinch, and the house sparrow, uses a distinct little combination of curved slopes and clip pieces to fake feathers and beaks in miniature, and LEGO designers clearly had fun color blocking each species accurately. There is also a tiny baby bird and an egg tucked into the nest, which is the kind of small storytelling touch that makes this set feel considered rather than mass produced. Nothing here counts as a rare or exclusive part, but the piece count relative to price holds up well, especially once you factor in three builds worth of design work packed into one box.
