I bought this one for the roster, not the model, and I think that is exactly how you should go into it.
Sam Wilson's Captain America, Joaquin Torres as the new Falcon, Ruth Bat-Seraph, and Red Hulk himself are all exclusive to this set, and that alone makes it worth a look for anyone building out a Marvel wall. The little glider jet, though, is over almost as soon as it starts, and at this price per piece I wanted a bit more model to show for my money. Get it for the figures and treat the vehicle as a bonus, and you will walk away happy.
Best for: Marvel minifig collectors who want Sam Wilson's Cap and Red Hulk on the shelf
What it is
This is a small tie-in set built around Captain America: Brave New World, and it earns its spot in the line for one reason: the minifigures. Sam Wilson's Captain America, the new Falcon in Joaquin Torres, Ruth Bat-Seraph, and a chunky Red Hulk figure are all exclusive to 76292, and if you have been collecting the movie wave you already know that is the whole pitch. I unboxed it hoping the little jet would surprise me the way some of these smaller vehicles do, and it did not. It goes together fast, it looks fine on a shelf, and that is about where the story ends for the model itself.
The catch
Here is the honest part. At $54.99 for 223 pieces, you are paying nearly 25 cents a piece, which is high for a set this size, and Brickset's own members have landed on a mixed 3.1 out of 5 average. That rating tracks with my experience. There is no standout technique in the glider, no new element that made me stop and turn it over in my hands, nothing that made the thirty minutes of building feel like time well spent. The value here lives entirely in the minifig bags, not in the model you snap together around them.
Who it's for
Grab this if you are chasing the Brave New World roster and want Red Hulk and Sam Wilson's Cap in your collection, full stop. If you are looking for a vehicle build that earns its price tag or a set that will impress you piece by piece, skip it and put that money toward a bigger Marvel release instead. This one is a figures purchase wearing a set's price tag, and I think you should walk in knowing that.
The parts story
What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.
Building 76292 takes almost no time at all. The glider aircraft is straightforward panel-and-clip construction, nothing technical, and most of the piece count goes toward getting a recognizable jet silhouette rather than any hidden engineering. If you are building with a kid this is a fine quick weekend project, but if you are the kind of builder who wants a puzzle to sink into, this will not scratch that itch.
The real substance is in the four minifigures. Sam Wilson's Captain America comes with his own shield and torso printing distinct from Steve Rogers versions, Joaquin Torres's Falcon carries wing gear unique to this release, Ruth Bat-Seraph is an exclusive character print you will not find elsewhere, and Red Hulk himself is built with a larger, reddish molded torso and head piece to give him the bulk the character needs. For anyone tracking exclusive prints and molds across the Marvel theme, those four figures are the entire reason this set exists, and they are the only reason I would tell you to buy it.
