The verdict

This one won me over the second I saw the launcher work.

You load a little dragon spinner, pull the ripcord, and it goes flying into the shrine to knock the other one clean off its base, that's the whole game, and it is genuinely fun to play more than once. I'll be honest about what this is though, it's a battle pack, not a display set, so the 186 pieces go almost entirely into a compact arena and two launchers rather than anything you'll want sitting on a shelf. If your kid is deep into Dragons Rising and wants Arin and Ras going head to head, this earns its spot. If you're after a proper Ninjago dragon to admire, keep walking.

Best for: Dragons Rising fans who want a quick, replayable dueling game more than a display build

The full review

What it is

I'll say straight up that the launcher is what makes this set worth talking about. You build a little dragon spinner, clip it into the shrine's launch mechanism, pull back, and let it rip toward the opposing dragon perched on the temple. When it connects and knocks the other one loose, there's a real little jolt of satisfaction, and that's before you've even finished building both sides. It's the kind of mechanic that gets built once and then gets played with immediately, which is exactly what a battle pack should be.

The catch

Where I have to be honest with you is on value. At 186 pieces for around twenty dollars, this isn't the piece-count bargain some Ninjago battle packs manage to be, and a decent chunk of that count goes into the two spinner mechanisms rather than scenery you'll enjoy looking at afterward. The temple itself is compact, more of a stage for the game than a structure you'll want to photograph. If you're the kind of builder who wants something to display, this will feel thin.

Who it's for

Get this one if you've got a kid following the Dragons Rising Season 3 storyline and wants Arin and Ras in hand, or if you like a quick head-to-head game you can set up on a table in five minutes. Skip it if you're chasing part count value or want a dragon set with real presence, there are bigger Ninjago dragons in the catalog that will satisfy that itch far better.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

The build itself is quick, which fits the format, you're not looking at hours here. The shrine goes together first and houses the spring-loaded launcher, then each dragon spinner gets built as its own small sub-assembly before you snap it onto the launch arm. It's simple enough for a younger builder to manage solo, and the satisfaction comes from testing the mechanism the moment it's done rather than from a long, absorbing build session.

The standout piece here is the launcher mechanism itself, it's a clean use of a spring-and-spinner combo that Ninjago battle packs have leaned on before, but it's tuned well in this set and the pull feels sturdy rather than flimsy. Ras being exclusive to this release is the other reason collectors will care, since he doesn't show up in any other 2025 wave. Beyond that, the piece selection is fairly ordinary, small plates, temple dressing, and the two dragon frames, so this is a set you buy for the game and the minifig, not for rare or printed parts.

Fun facts

  • 01This battle pack ties into Ninjago Dragons Rising Season 3, putting Arin up against the Wolf Mask Army's Ras.
  • 02Ras is exclusive to set 71826, so it's the only way to get that specific minifig as of its 2025 release.
  • 03The set measures a compact 14 x 16 x 3 cm built, reflecting its role as a tabletop dueling game rather than a display piece.
  • 04LEGO has listed the set as available through the end of 2026, giving it a longer than usual shelf life for a battle pack.
