The verdict

The Ferrari 499P captures the real hypercar's low cockpit, roof intake, long tail and red-yellow race livery with more maturity than most small licensed cars.

The build uses unusual offsets and produces an excellent shelf profile. The dense sponsor graphics and narrow cockpit make it less friendly as a toy, but endurance-racing fans finally have the Ferrari they wanted.

Best for: Le Mans and endurance-racing fans building a modern prototype grid

The full review

What it is

Set 77261 turns Ferrari's Le Mans-winning 499P into a 329-piece eight-stud-wide model. The roof intake, low cockpit, full-width rear light, high rear deck and broad wing make it immediately distinct from a road-going Ferrari. Michelin-marked tires and the red, yellow, black and white livery complete the race-car identity, while a Ferrari driver minifigure fits inside the cockpit.

The catch

The challenge is translating a prototype racer without flattening it into a long red wedge. Builder coverage highlights the layered bodywork, printed windscreen and unusual construction choices around the nose and cabin. The color blocking reads well from display distance, although sponsor markings and small trim details mean careful sticker work. Customer feedback has been especially positive from World Endurance Championship fans, with some builders calling it the strongest of the modern endurance trio.

Who it's for

This is most compelling when displayed beside the Porsche 963 and BMW M Hybrid V8, where the different approaches to prototype racing become obvious. It still rolls and handles like a Speed Champions car, but the visual focus is firmly on accurate stance and livery. Casual Ferrari buyers may prefer the cleaner SF90 road car; racing fans should start here.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

The build concentrates on half-stud and plate-height offsets to keep the roofline low while preserving space for a minifigure. Layered red panels form the long nose and rear body, while the printed windscreen carries a large share of the model's identity. The rear light bar and roof intake are particularly effective at this scale.

Newer Speed Champions tires and detailed wheel treatments improve the stance compared with older prototype racers. The inventory is less useful as a general red-parts pack because many pieces are committed to livery and angled bodywork, but it is a useful study in compact race-car shaping.
