The verdict

I bought this one purely for the minifigures and I have zero regrets, Paz Vizsla in his full Mandalorian armor with that heavy rail gun is genuinely one of the best builds of a background character LEGO has done, and Moff Gideon in his stolen beskar with the Darksaber sells the Mandalorian season three finale perfectly.

The little scenery piece that comes with them is fine but modest, so this is a figure set wearing a construction-set costume. If you watched the show and wanted that fight on your shelf, or you collect Mandalorian minifigures, this earns its spot. If you need a proper vehicle or a bigger build to feel satisfied, look elsewhere in the wave first.

Best for: Mandalorian season 3 fans and minifigure collectors who want this specific showdown on the shelf

The full review

What it is

This is a small battle pack built around one moment, Paz Vizsla squaring off against Moff Gideon in his stolen Mandalorian armor, and it earns its keep almost entirely through the two minifigures. Paz Vizsla shows up in full Mandalorian plate with confident, clean printing and his signature heavy rail gun, a figure fans of the show have wanted properly rendered for a while. Moff Gideon is dressed in the beskar armor he took for himself in season three, holding the Darksaber, and next to his earlier plain-robe minifig this is a real step up in presence.

The catch

I will be straight with you about the build itself, it is modest. At 289 pieces you get a small platform or scenery element to stage the fight rather than a vehicle or set piece with any real substance, so most of your building time and satisfaction comes from finishing the two figures and their gear rather than a lasting structure. That is fine for a set at this size and price point, but it means the box is really selling you the confrontation, not an experience to build for an evening.

Who it's for

Grab this if you loved the Mandalorian season three finale or you are collecting the wave of small battle packs LEGO put out around it, the figures alone are worth the money. Skip it if you want a bigger build to sink time into or a vehicle to display, in that case look at the larger sets in the same wave instead.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

Building this one is quick and figure focused. You will spend more time snapping together weapons, capes, and helmets than assembling anything structural, and the small scenery piece goes together in a few quick steps rather than a long satisfying sequence.

The real value is in the printing. Paz Vizsla's armor pieces carry sharp, clean Mandalorian detailing and his rail gun is a nicely proportioned accessory that has not shown up in this exact form very often. Moff Gideon's beskar armor pieces and the Darksaber hilt are the other standout, giving him a much more commanding look than his plainer previous minifig releases. For a set this size, the part count is really working in service of two premium figures rather than a big model.

Fun facts

  • 01The set is based on the confrontation between Paz Vizsla and Moff Gideon from the finale of The Mandalorian season three, after Gideon takes Mandalorian beskar armor for himself.

  • 03The set released as part of LEGO's 2024 wave of small-format Mandalorian battle packs built around specific show moments rather than vehicles.
