The verdict

I bought this one for the minifigures and I'd tell you to do the same.

Superman in his classic suit and a green war suited Lex Luthor with a Kryptonite crystal in hand are the whole reason to care about this box, and they're genuinely good ones. The mech itself is fine, it clicks together fast and it poses well enough for a shelf, but it borrows the same joints and silhouette LEGO uses on every hero mech this size, just recolored. If you collect DC minifigures or you have a kid who wants Superman throwing a punch, get it without hesitation. If you're chasing an interesting build, this isn't it.

Best for: DC minifigure collectors and younger builders who want a quick Superman playset

The full review

What it is

I'll be honest about what pulled me toward this set, it wasn't the mech. It was seeing Superman's actual classic minifigure again after years of him being absent from shelf sets, standing next to a Lex Luthor in green battle armor gripping a chunk of Kryptonite like he's about to end a fight the hard way. That pairing alone made me want the box before I'd even seen the mech render.

The catch

The mech does its job. It's a compact walker Superman can climb into, it has decent poseability for photos, and it snaps together in a sitting with no frustration at all. But if you've built any of the other 2025 hero mechs, you already know this one. Same joint system, same general proportions, just swapped to Superman's blue and red. Reviewers have flagged the articulation as a bit stiff, and I felt that too, some poses look natural and others look like you're forcing the plastic.

Who it's for

Get this one for the minifigures, plain and simple. If you collect DC figures, or you've got a young builder who wants Superman in hand more than an engineering puzzle, this delivers real joy for not much money. If you want your LEGO time to feel like a genuine build, save your money for something with more piece count and more original design work.

The parts story

What the build is actually like, and the pieces worth knowing about.

There isn't much of a build to get lost in here, which is the honest tradeoff for a 120 piece set. You'll have the mech assembled quickly, the cockpit clips together, the legs peg on, and Superman drops in within a few steps. It's built for a kid to finish in one sitting and feel like they accomplished something, not for an adult to disappear into for an evening.

The pieces that matter are the two figures. Superman comes with his fabric cape and a reversible head for a second expression, small things that add real personality. Lex Luthor's green warsuit torso and shoulder armor are the standout molds here, along with the Kryptonite crystal piece he's gripping, that's the kind of accessory that makes a villain feel dangerous rather than generic. At 12 to 13 cents a piece this counts as good value, and it held its price after retiring rather than sliding, which tells you the minifigures are doing the heavy lifting for demand.
